~Philosophy~
The Wilson County Health Department is
dedicated to the provision of the highest level of physical,
mental and social well being and longevity
that is consistent with scientific and technical knowledge and
available resources. Our Community Health Nursing programs
and services
emphasize promotions and maintenance of the
population's health and the prevention and the limitation of
disease. These activities change with technology and
social values, but the goal remains to reduce the amount of
disease, premature death, discomfort and disability. It is our
fundamental belief that all persons, regardless of race,
national origin, creed, or ability to pay have the basic
right to preventative and restorative health care. Core
functions of the agency include collecting and analyzing data,
developing comprehensive policies for
entire population
and assuring that appropriate services are delivered to
all. It is this agency's purpose to provide, plan and cooperate
with other community service agencies and institutions and
to utilize existing resources in the development of a
comprehensive health program for our citizens based
on the assessment of
community and individual needs.
